I like these too - and I think one of the funniest things ever is that Amazon has USED coloring books listed…
Whooohe the sound of breath changing, then a giggle sounding like a hiccup….amazon ding dong. I am rather excited about the whole thing. Have been coloring a lot these last couple of weeks with Mimi and was kinda down about the quality of pictures that is how many Barbie princesses do I have to color?
then wow I stumble upon these and ,it feels spectacular,a form of illustrative meditation.
wow! who knew? that is so fascinating - illustrative meditation, Bridget, that is a fantastic way of expressing it.
When we are coloring it is one of the most relaxing activities that I enjoy…(though I choose to color outside the lines : ) I love the line …it feels spectacular…agreed! I am so excited for you too!
I, for one love coloring books, and have many boxes of crayons. I really like the older books but they are hard to find. Cookies and milk, anyone?
Oh BB, these are so beautiful. I am going to order up a big bunch of them and give them to my friends as gifts - including those in nursing homes. What a great idea. Are there any girls who don't like colouring? Last year, I ordered the “Coloring Mandalas for Balance, Harmony, and Spritual Well Being” from Amazon, and some small ones for the grandkids.
Big problem though - the crayons nowadays suck big time. What happened to the vivid colours of Crayolas of yesteryear? Now the crayons are just waxy and pale, event he dark ones. I am so thankful to have experienced vivid Crayolas. I loved the smell of them. And of course, I tasted up a couple of the most beautiful colours, because they looked good enough to eat. They were not as tasty as birthday candles though ;>)
love love love these coloring books! Mimi, crayons have changed and to something less ? That makes no sense…. Well, a gaian then just has to make better ones :)
Really good quality colored pencils are the way to go.
“Laurentian” pencil crayons used to be best ever. Soft, smooth, luxurious, vibrant distinct colour/shades. Now they are too hard and colours are pale. Just don't have vibrancy. I miss that. I remember when…..
If anyone knows of a particular brand of crayons that have rich vibrant colours, please let me know. My grandchildren and I would love to get these pale imposters out of here!
Mimi, my local art supply store has wax pencils and also crayons, I don't remember the name of the companies that make them but they're very saturated with color. Try a real art supply store rather than the children's section of a regular kind of store and you might find something you like.
Hey tink,
thanks so much for the tip. There is a nice art shoppe downtown that I have gone by many times. I will go in and check it out. Never thought of it for crayons and pencil crayons. (((hugs))
I prefer the wooden pencils and I like them to be really sharp,I also like the gouache ones that don't need water and the colors so vivid I think they vibrate when I'm not looking.
Art supply stores ( Omer des Serres is a popular one here in Montreal) are amazing,I also like the hobby shops too ,I've started to go back again, there is something incredibly reassurring about life cycles, and crayons and wooden pencils that smell just so when you sharpen them.
Mimi I got Moe Laurentien ones this year
coloring books. I like the sound of that.
I use these types of books with my students. They use colored pencils to color with, and I insisit that they pay attention to detail. The final products are so beautiful… especially when they take their time!
