Graceland-Paul Simon Concert in Zimbabwe
I do not drive, well I can but it's not considered legal when I do,having optioned out of the course and the test...hence no license,so I avoid the steering wheel per se and watch.
I have of late, been changing gears at a phenomanal rate, more quickly than I ever could have imagined. It is exhillarating in a new and exotic way,and reminds me of the me I left behind when I opted to let someone else drive,it was lazy, and reeked of boredom.
This leading up to the fact that I am actually doing it,I am going to go for the license drivey thing, ever snce I can remember I have wanted to do the Mississipi Delta shining like a national guitar thang, beehive optional but cool shades, and perhaps a Dr Pepper that curiuos carbonated beverage that tastes like prune juice, but in a "I'll drink that once in a blue moon way" while asking for directions at the fork in the road, and then throwing caution to the wind and just pressing the gas pedal of the car and of my soul.
Automatics and cruise control lead to complacency and then accidents,I figure if I am always aware that I am in motion in life, obliged to shift gears, somehow I'm not going to look back at where I've been, with anything other than a smile

I'm not much of a fan of cruise control either…too trancelike. as robert creeley once said in one of his poems,,,above all…watch where you're going.
Good thinking BB, Smiling too.

I've decided that I want to learn while there is snow on the ground

I am guilty of laziness when reading other's blogs this past year. There is no excuse. So I thought I'd check out your blog since it had been a source of great reading for me in the past. I'm responding to this particular post but in a sense I'm responding to all of your posts because I've missed your particular brand of writing.
I am always moved by your words, by the rythmn and flow of how you write, particularly since I know what your literal voice sounds like. I read you and I see you. I read you and I feel that we are in the same city, having coffee at a cafe, laughing about the silliness and sadness in the world.
You remind me that I need to return to partipation, that I need to look at your blog more regularly, read the short stories, the snippets of humor and insight - I do miss this so.
When you pass the driver's test, when you have an actual license, we must get together. I am a true driver. I go anywhere. I love the open road, have drivin across the US twice. Have drivine north and south more times than I can count. And we could do a Thelma and Louise, finding the Brad Pitt (although I'd much rather find Benecio del Torro) and do it all without the oh-so-unecessarily-tragic ending. A road trip with you would be a delight, my friend.
Thank you for being you, for writing better than most pros, and for always being an inspiration.
Namaste'
Jackie I have three words….Major road trip, and yes too Benicio.
I am honored and think that you wll be the kickassiest trip partner evah!!!!!!!!
